The homestead today is doing well.  We have had some pretty bad rainstorms the last two days but they have not lasted very long.  The Chickens have handled it very well.  Our 7 chickens have been by far the best pets we have had.  They are friendly and are enjoyable to watch.  Pictures will be posted soon.  I am hoping to add more to this blog the more I learn about not only blogging but gardening, chicken raising, and utilizing our enviornment to better our family life. 

The start of it all

This is the first attempt at blogging.  My husband and I have recently taken on the venture of raising chickens.  We currently have 7 chickens and a home made tractor chicken coop.  We bought the chickens when they were 4 weeks old.  They are now 20 weeks old.  We are looking forward to having fresh eggs in about another month or so.
